The race, as HYROX sets it
Every HYROX race has the same shape: a 1 km run, then one workout station, eight times over, in a fixed order. That is 8 km of running and eight stations, and the running distance is the same in every division. Weights, and in some divisions reps, change with the division.
| After run | Station | Work |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | SkiErg | 1,000 m |
| 2 | Sled Push | 50 m |
| 3 | Sled Pull | 50 m |
| 4 | Burpee Broad Jump | 80 m |
| 5 | Rowing | 1,000 m |
| 6 | Farmer's Carry | 200 m |
| 7 | Sandbag Lunges | 100 m |
| 8 | Wall Balls | 100 reps |

What roxzone time is
The HYROX rulebook describes every course in three parts: the run course, the Roxzone and the workout stations. The Roxzone is the area between the other two. You enter it through an IN arch and leave through an OUT arch on every round, and going through the wrong one costs a 2-minute penalty.
Your finish time is one clock from start to finish, so every second in the Roxzone is part of it. Roxzone time is that share: the minutes that are neither running nor working a station.
03
How the analysis works
You give it three things: your finish time, your eight run splits, and your total time on the eight stations. Roxzone time is the finish time minus the eight runs minus the station total. If the runs and stations add up to more than the finish time, a number was typed wrong, and it says so rather than guess.
The roxzone total is divided by eight for a per-round figure and compared with 5:00 in total. When yours is more than 20 seconds over, the report shows by how much.
Pacing fade is Run 8 against Run 1: (Run 8 minus Run 1) divided by Run 1, as a percentage. A fade above 12 percent reads as a big fade, above 5 as moderate, -3 to 5 as even, and anything faster than that as a negative split.
Our design choices, stated plainly. The 5:00 comparison and the fade bands are our own rules of thumb, not published HYROX standards. The analysis is also only as clean as the splits you paste: anything not counted as running or stations is counted as roxzone.
04
How to read your result
The bar splits your finish into running, stations and roxzone, so you can see which share is largest.
Roxzone is the total and the average per round. It is time spent moving between things, so it is worth comparing with your own next race, measured the same way.
Pacing fade compares your last kilometre with your first. A big positive number means your running slowed as the race went on; a negative one means you finished faster than you started.
For the engine behind the running, the VO2max calculator reads a VO2max from a race time, and the Hybrid Score calculator puts it next to your lifts.

Questions
What is roxzone time in HYROX?
The time you spend in the Roxzone, the area between the run course and the workout stations that you pass through on every round of the race. This analyzer works it out as your finish time minus your eight runs and your total station time.
Does roxzone time count toward my finish time?
Yes. Your finish time runs from your start to your finish, and the HYROX rulebook describes every course as the run course, the Roxzone and the workout stations together. There are no free minutes in between.
What is a good roxzone time?
We do not quote a typical range, because we have not found a published one we trust. The report compares yours with 5:00 in total, a rule of thumb of ours. The most useful comparison is your own next race, measured the same way.
Why does my pacing fade matter?
Every racer runs the same eight kilometres, so the gap between your first and last run shows how your running held up through the stations. The report shows it as a percentage and names a band; the bands are ours, not a published standard.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The math runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored.
Can hybridAF track this over time?
Yes. The app logs HYROX races and full simulations with every run and station split and your roxzone, and the HYROX guide shows how.
Log every race and sim.
hybridAF logs HYROX races and full simulations with every run and station split and your roxzone, and grades your lifting and your running as one Hybrid Score. The score is free.
