What is a good HYROX time? Real results, men and women

What counts as a good HYROX time, from real results: a full Bangkok 2026 field and HYRESULT's all-seasons Open data, for men, women, debuts and age groups.

A good HYROX time depends on whose results you compare it with, so here are two real sets. Across all seasons of Open results on HYRESULT, the median is about 1:27 for men and 1:34 for women, so finishing under those puts you ahead of half the field. In one big race, Bangkok 2026, the medians were 1:41 for men and 1:52 for women. Under 1:15 for a man is about the fastest 20% across all seasons, and under 1:25 for a woman about the fastest 27%.

Everything below is Open division singles. Pro uses heavier sleds, bells, sandbag and wall ball, Doubles is a two-person team and Relay a team of four, each with its own rulebook.1 None of those times are comparable with Open singles, so they're left out.

Two datasets, and why they disagree#

The first is HYRESULT's all-seasons comparison. Every result page on HYRESULT carries a finish-time distribution for its division, and for men's Open it covers 373,021 results, for women's Open 202,305, binned by minute from 55:00 to 2:40:00.23 That's the biggest set of HYROX finish times we could read directly. It's a secondary source, not HYROX's own.

The second is one complete race. We downloaded the full Bangkok 2026 Open ranking: 3,253 men and 1,456 women.45 Smaller, but it's every finisher in one venue on one weekend, so nothing's averaged across courses.

They disagree by a lot. Bangkok's men's median was about 14 minutes slower than the all-seasons median. Why, the data can't say: venue layout, conditions, and who turns up all change a field. The point is that "the average HYROX time" is a moving target. A time that's mid-table in one city can be top 30% in another.

The Bangkok men's field also shows how long the tail is. The winner ran 58:15 and nine men broke the hour. The slowest finisher took 5:12:05. That tail is why the mean (1:46:16) sits five minutes above the median (1:41:02).4 When someone quotes an "average HYROX time", ask whether it's a mean or a median, because with a tail like that the two aren't the same number.

Read the curve that matches your situation. If you've raced a specific event, find its full ranking and count, because that's the field you actually beat. If you want a general sense, the all-seasons curve is the closer thing to "everyone who's done HYROX".

Is 1:30 a good HYROX time?#

For a man, 1:30 is just slower than the all-seasons median: about 57% of men's Open results are faster. In Bangkok it would have been top 30%.

For a woman, 1:30 is a good time by either measure. About 39% of all-seasons women's Open results are faster, so it beats roughly six in ten. In Bangkok it was top 12%.

For men, sub 1:15 is a strong result: about the fastest fifth across all seasons and the fastest 7% in Bangkok. And the fastest end of the sport is a different world. Elite median times fell from 1:06:24 to 57:17 for men and from 1:11:09 to 1:03:22 for women over HYROX's first seven seasons.6

What about a first HYROX?#

First races are slower, and by a lot. HYRESULT marks a result as a debut when it's that athlete's first finish in the division in its records, and in Bangkok most of the field were debuts: 2,273 of the 3,253 men and 1,104 of the 1,456 women.45

Bangkok 2026 Debut median Repeat median Debuts under 1:30 Repeats under 1:30
Men 1:45:19 1:31:16 21.8% 47.7%
Women 1:54:56 1:42:47 9.2% 21.6%

That's a 14-minute gap at the median for men and 12 for women. Some of it is people getting fitter between races, and some is selection: the people who come back are more likely the ones who train for it. The data can't separate the two. What it does say is that if this is your first race, you should judge it against other first races. A 1:45 debut for a man was dead on the median in Bangkok. A sub-1:30 debut was top 22%.

One caveat on the flag: "debut" means the first finish HYRESULT has on record in that division. Someone who'd raced Doubles before, or whose earlier result isn't linked to their profile, still counts as a debut.

Times by age#

Here are the median finish times by age group in the Bangkok 2026 field.45 The all-seasons data on HYRESULT isn't split by age, so this is one race only.

For men, the median barely moves from 16 to 39, within about two and a half minutes. It slows from the 40s on, by roughly ten minutes by 50 to 54. The women's medians climb more steadily from the youngest group. The groups from 60 up are too small in one race to read much into: 19 men and 13 women in 60 to 64, and fewer above. Age groups in the 30s are where most of the field is, so that's also where the competition for age-group places is thickest.

What a finish time does and doesn't tell you#

A finish time is one number for two very different kinds of work. In Brandt's lab simulation of a HYROX race, VO2max tracked finish time and run time, but not station time, in 11 athletes.7 Two people with the same 1:20 can have opposite problems.

My own first race is a good example. I finished in 1:13:38, 197th of 3,254 men in Bangkok and top 18.3% on HYRESULT's all-seasons comparison.8 A good time. It also hides that my runs ranked 127th and my stations 406th. The full breakdown shows where.

hybridAF uses finish time as a last-resort engine estimate. When it can't estimate a VO2max from your runs, rides, watch or a benchmark run, a logged HYROX race or race sim maps to an Engine Index: 60 minutes or faster gives 88, up to 75 gives 72, up to 90 gives 56, up to 110 gives 40, slower than that gives 26. Those bands are our design choice, not a published standard, and they're deliberately coarse because a finish time mixes engine and strength. As soon as there's a VO2max estimate, the engine stops using them. If you'd like to see how your lifts and your engine grade separately, the Hybrid Score calculator does it from a few numbers.

Turning it into a goal#

If you want a target rather than a verdict, pick a percentile and read off the time. The fastest quarter is a common ambition, and it lands in very different places depending on the field:

Fastest 25% Men Women
All seasons, HYRESULT about 1:17:00 about 1:24:17
Bangkok 2026 1:27:40 1:38:20
Bangkok 2026, debuts only 1:31:48 1:41:35

That's a spread of 15 to 17 minutes for the same ambition. So choose the comparison first, then the number. For a first race, the debut row is the honest one.

Making "good" useful#

Three comparisons are worth more than "is this good".

The first is your own field. Find your event's full ranking and see where you landed among the people who raced the same course that day.

The second is your split shape. Runs, stations and Roxzone each have their own ranks. Compare them with people who finished near you, which is what the split targets for sub 90, sub 75 and sub 60 are built from.

The third is your next race. A course change can move your time by minutes. Your split shape is what you can actually train, so pacing (how to pace the eight runs) and transitions (Roxzone explained) are where a first-race time usually comes down.
